If you’re tired of the same old dinner and a movie and want to shake things up a little, here are a few places to take your date. Pick the one that best fits your budget.
If you have a bit of a cash flow situation: Try a museum with student rates for events
The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is a gorgeous building full of interesting artifacts. The indoor courtyard can bring a bit of summery cheer when the temperature’s below freezing. Even better? The museum has a student rate of only $5 per person with a student ID. Every third Thursday of the month, the museum puts on an after-hours party for the same price, and it often includes live music and food.
To get there on the T, take the Green Line E train outbound or No. 39 bus to the Museum of Fine Arts stop. Cross Huntington Avenue on your right onto Louis Prang Street. Walk down Louis Prang Street for two blocks. The museum is on the left.
If your budget is somewhere in the middle: Go to a professional sports game
If you buy them enough in advance, tickets for a Celtics game can cost as little as $28. This can be something both you and your guy will enjoy, and it will also give you a chance to get into Boston. Extra points if you buy the tickets for him as a surprise!
If you’re looking to spend a lot: Day in NYC
While the cost of a trip to New York can add up quickly, it’s an experience you definitely won’t forget. Minimize costs by buying bus tickets early and not spending the night in the city. Many of the buses have tickets available for around $15 and even have wireless! Once you’re in the city, try out a couple of new restaurants. If it’s warm enough, take a walk around Central Park or the shops in SoHo.
