I had a summer fling. He was older, and it was new, and fun, and exciting, but also kind of a lot to handle—like nothing I had experienced before. I spent the summer in New York City, interning in the editorial department at Seventeen. I interviewed celebrities, wrote for the website, and saw first-hand how a top magazine is run, all while soaking up an amazing city. It felt like a dream. It was like I got a taste of the life that awaits me after I graduate, when I'll (hopefully) move to New York City and get an actual job at a magazine. But as much as I loved my summer, it also made me realize something else—I am so happy I still have two more years of college left. Because as awesome as the real world seems, once you're out there, there's no turning back. Sure, there are countless great things about being independent and finally getting to live your life, but there is also something to be said for not having to work from 9-5 every day (or 9-midnight, like many of my friends), and not having to worry about buying groceries and cooking dinner for yourself every night. I started to appreciate being able to sleep in and not have class until noon, or being able to just show up at the dining hall to get food while at school. Don't get me wrong—I loved my summer and I can't wait to live the life I lived this summer, for real. But I feel like sometimes at Harvard we're so focused on the future that we forget what an amazing place we're at right now. The future isn't going anywhere, and there's nothing wrong with preparing for it; but I think that as we go back to school this year, we—or at least I—should make sure to appreciate how incredible it is to be in college with my whole life still ahead of me, but not yet upon me. I had a summer fling. He was older, and it was new, and fun, and exciting, but also kind of a lot to handle—like nothing I had experienced before. I had a summer fling with the real world. But I think I'll leave it at just that—for now at least. Freeze Love,

Dear Freeze Readers, I hope you all had amazing summers. I spent a wonderful summer at home in Asheville, NC relaxing in the warm southern sunshine. Stephanie and I are very excited about the coming year at Freeze. We are excited about the new students on campus – especially the ones who will soon be joining the staff here at Freeze. We are introducing editorial and business comps for the fall, both of which will be fabulous. I'm looking forward to getting to know all of the new Freeze Compers! We're making a lot of changes to the website and are really excited about all of them. As many of you probably know, Freeze is an exclusively online magazine. We do this not only to keep costs down but also to reduce the carbon footprint of our organization. With everyone on their computers everyday anyways, who needs paper?! Stephanie and the editorial staff have been working hard to make the site both more interactive and user-friendly. Check out our new Weekly Polls and nominate that hot guy down the hall for Crimson Cutie of the week! Some of the newest additions to the magazine include "FREEze-bies" and "Featured Events." Check out FREEze-bies (like freebies – but Freeze... get it?) regularly to learn about new ways to win some really great items! Also, stay in the loop by checking out the Featured Events! Thank you all for reading Freeze. Without readers, our magazine really wouldn't have a purpose, now would it? Please feel free to send Stephanie or me any suggestions or comments you may have! Freeze Love,
