Your Guide To: Fall TV
By Lia Whisler
September/October 2008
You're back at school – busy with homework, extra-curriculars, and of course, new seasons of all your favorite shows! Here's your comprehensive guide to this fall's must-see TV!
"Dancing with the Stars": Monday at 8pm, Tuesday at 9pm, ABC
Get ready for a stellar line-up of celebs in this, the 7th season, of the hit TV series. Remember that shy blond from the infamous 'NSync - what was his name again? Oh, right, Lance Bass. Well I guess it will be a blast from the past seeing him on the show, as well as Ted McGinley from Happy Days and singer Toni Braxton. Newer celebs to be featured on the show include Kim Kardashian, Cody Linley (from Hannah Montana) and Misty May-Treanor, the Olympic Gold medalist in Beach Volleyball from these past games in Beijing.
"Gossip Girl": Monday at 8pm, The CW
Even though its first season was interrupted by that annoying writer's strike, there is no stopping the momentum of scandal that continues to be the trademark of this series. And sure enough, The CW only seems to be adding fuel to the fire in the second season. As the carelessness of summer fades and the plot moves back to the city, the characters must face what they left behind. Wasn't it just so unfair that Dan and Serena broke up? What about the way Chuck ditched Blair while she waited for him in Europe? And whatever happened to Nate? Guess we will soon find out!
"One Tree Hill": Monday at 9pm, The CW
I know the tension has been killing you – when are Lucas and Peyton going to get married, if at all? What is Nathan going to do with his mom's online relationship? Is Dan going to survive the car crash? And what will occur with Brooke's company? Well, get ready for it, because the time has finally come for all of your questions to be answered!
"90210": Tuesday at 8pm, The CW
And you thought the series was over. Well think again! If you haven't already heard, The CW is revamping the hit TV series from the 90's from which I'm sure we all remember at least a scene or two. The premise is generally the same, with a family relocating from Kansas to Beverly Hills and how they seriously have no idea what they are getting into. But this time around, we've got some updated fashion styles, snazzy new cars, and of course, cell phones that aren't the size of brick. I mean seriously, the 90's were like so 20 years ago.
"House": Tuesday at 8pm, Fox
I'm not sure if it's the medical mysteries themselves, or House's own mysterious life that keeps this show so addictive, but either way there is sure to be even more crazy drama in the coming season. After all, Wilson's girlfriend's sudden death won't be taken very lightly. How will he cope with this? How will House cope with Wilson? Whatever happens, it is sure to be very House.
"America's Next Top Model": Wednesday at 8pm, The CW
It's hard to believe that this series is already on its 11th cycle, but hey, you know you love the cattiness! With the competition sure to be even fiercer than before, and with issues such as cloning, homeland security, nuclear weapons and foreign policy on the forefront of contestant's minds (allegedly) this is sure to be a fantastic season!
"Ugly Betty": Thursday at 8pm, ABC
Changes are so not in short supply for merely the third season of this phenomenal spinoff of a Spanish soap opera. For one, the filming of the series is being relocated from LA to NY to allow for more on location shooting. In addition, there are rumors that Betty will start to get a little…how should we say it…physical in upcoming episodes. Oh, and I guess Lindsay Lohan thought appearing in the show would be a great way to kick-start her come-back, so if you do a double-take in front of the TV, don't say I didn't warn you.
"Grey's Anatomy": Thursday at 9pm, ABC
While the drama suggests otherwise, Grey's is only starting its fifth season this fall with a special two-hour premiere. And thankfully, Katherine Heigl is staying on the show, at least for now. Rumors are surfacing that she wants her character, Dr. Izzie Stevens to have a brain tumor. Hmmm, maybe those other rumors that a Screen Actors Guild strike are surfacing at a good time… But hey, you know you are still excited to see the premiere!
