GIRLS NIGHT IN: California Girls

WHO COMES: Those feeling nostalgic for high school or anyone simply lusting after warmer climes and hot guys!

WHAT YOU NEED:
The Main Attraction: The O.C. – The Complete First Season ($32.99; amazon.com)
The Drink: Mojitos (concocted to your pleasure or prepared virgin à la Oliver as in the unforgettable New Year’s Episode 14: The Countdown)
The Food: Order take-out from your favorite Thai restaurant (Kirsten’s version of a homemade dinner) or make like Sandy and raid the d-hall for bagels with just enough “schmear” – just don’t be a Hailey and eat them all!

HOW IT GOES:
With the heat turned up high, you and your fellow honorary/legitimate Californians don your cutest pajamas and flashiest earrings – glamour is always a must in Newport. Indulge in food and libations as everyone gathers around the television and prepares to enter a world of luxury, vice and scandal. Sing along to Phantom Planet’s catchy theme at the top of your lungs, swoon over Ryan’s sexy brooding and biceps, and celebrate Seth’s ingenious Chrismukkah invention. California here we come!

GIRLS NIGHT OUT: Beauty Queens

WHERE TO GO: Shear Madness, the long-running play touted as “the uproarious whodunit where the audience gets to solve the crime.” Located at the Charles Playhouse, Stage II (74 Warrenton St.). College student rush specials available for $20; see website (www.shearmadness.com) for details.

WHO COMES: Anyone who has suffered the devastating effects of a bad hair day.

WHAT TO WEAR: Your brightest, tackiest clothes – think leggings and mini skirts – anything that will best complement your most important accessory of the evening: your fantastic hairstyle.

HOW TO ACT: Set your radio to Oldies 103.3 and sing along to the classics while you and your friends style each others’ hair. Pull out headbands, hairclips, a curling iron and (gasp!) perhaps even a crimper. When everyone has been doused with sufficient hairspray, head out on the town and sport your sassy up-dos with pride!
